Encounter specialist Daya NayakEncounter specialist Daya Nayak could be worth Rs 100 crore. The Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) has stumbled upon incriminating documents indicating that Daya Nayak was involved in running dubious finance companies with transactions over Rs 50 crore.
Four staff members of an ACB offical searched his Kandivli police quarters flat between 11 pm last night and 6 am today. His wife Komal told them that Nayak was out of station. He is considered to be absconding.
We investigated his personal bank accounts and found Rs 43 lakh in excess as compared to his earnings said an investigating officer.
Nayak owns at least three flats, a penthouse and three vehicles, including a Hyundai Accent. Several other benami properties in Karnataka have also been identified.
So far we have identified valuables and property worth Rs 52 crore, but they belong to different people considered to be very close to Nayak, said a senior ACB official.
In all his companies, Nayak has named wife Komal as director, who ran the business on paper.
The modus operandi was simple. His associates like Shriniwas Naidu would bring in deposits in the finance company through various sources and then withdraw cash using dummy names.
