Bus stop stolen from suburban Borivali

In a surprise move and first of its kind of robbery, some miscreants removed the new stylish bus shelters put up by the BEST authorities at the Shastri Nagar in suburban Borivali.


On Tuesday morning it was noticed that the bus stop which was installed by the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) on Sunday was missing from the busy Shastri Nagar area in suburban Borivali, a top BEST official said.


Interestingly, the first bus arrives at 6.00 in the morning and the last bus leaves from the Shastri Nagar at around 1.00 am and still no one noticed the miscreants removing the entire bus stop, the BEST official said.


Around 1,200 new bus stops have been put up all over the metropolis and 4,000 more would be replaced with the old bus stops with within two years, BEST Committee Chairman, Pravin Chheda told PTI.


Earlier, there were incidents of drainage lid been stolen. First time a bus stop has been uprooted and stolen, chheda said and demanded that the officials should take proper action so that such incidents do not occur again."
