People's Committee against Police Atrocities' (PCPA) spokesman, Asit Mahato, has rubbished reports of the outfit's involvement in yesterday's train attack.

Speaking exclusively to MiD DAY, Mahato alleged it was orchestrated by the ruling CPI(M) party.

The West Bengal police claimed some pamphlets were recovered from the accident site in which PCPA had taken responsibility for yesterday's incident.

"We have always taken responsibility for incidents we were involved in. But I deny any involvement of our group in the attack on the Howrah-Kurla Gyaneswari Express in Jhargram.

It was orchestrated by the ruling CPI(M) for political gain," said Mahato, who has been leading the PCPA since the arrest of its senior leader Chhatradhar Mahato.

The PCPA had taken responsibility of the Bhubneshwar Rajdhani hostage crisis in October 2009.
