Qatar released 8 Ex-Navy veterans who were detained in Doha on alleged espionage charges. 7 out of 8 ex-Navy veterans reached India safely on Feb 12 from Qatar after months of captivity. Saurabh Vashisht, one of the Ex-Indian Navy veterans who returned home, expressed his feelings. His family was overwhelmed on his return and thanked PM Modi, EAM Jaishankar for their intervention. As Govt managed to bring back its Navy veterans from Qatar, it is one of the biggest diplomatic wins for India. PM Narendra Modi, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar have been receiving praise for their diplomatic victory.

He also praised PM Modi’s diplomatic relationship and said Modi diplomacy is world class after Indian Navy veterans were released from the Qatar Death penalty and returned back to India. “The Modi diplomacy is world-class. Yesterday we have seen eight sailors returned from Qatar, who were sentenced to death sentence, without a scratch. That is a victory for Narendra Modi ji and External Affairs Ministry under S Jaishankar. The old India can never do this. The new India is doing this. Also, the fishermen released from Sri Lankan prison landed in Chennai.,” said Annamalai.

Qatar Death Penalty: PM Modi hailed by Pakistani analyst

As many as eight former Indian Navy personnel were released from Qatar on February 12. The Qatar authorities had announced their verdict of death sentence to the Indian men as they were charged of espionage. On Feb 12, seven of the eight Ex-Indian Navy veterans landed in Delhi and they hailed PM Modi for his intervention. India’s Ministry of External Affairs has received praise for the diplomatic victory in Qatar. Even Pakistani political expert hailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi for bringing back former Navy veterans after being released from the Qatar Death Penalty. Pakistani political analyst Dr Qamar Cheema uploaded a video on his YouTube channel with a title “Modi Magic Worked in Qatar”. Notably, PM Modi met with Amir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani on the sidelines of COP 28 Summit in Dubai. Navy veterans who returned from Qatar also hailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his personal intervention.

Haldwani violence: “Not religious structure…” says Nainital DM Vandana Singh

Haldwani violence: A violence broke out in Banbhoolpura area of Uttarakhand’s Haldwani on February 08. As violence rocked Haldwani, DM Vandana Singh held detailed press conference on Feb 09. Nainital DM Vandana Singh clarified that demolished property is “not a religious structure”. She said, “This was not an isolated activity to target a particular property only. This drive has been going on for a long time in different areas of Haldwani. It is an empty property that has two structures. Which are not registered as religious structure or has been given any such recognition. Some people call it a Madrasa, but on papers, there is no such existence. We vacated it and notice was pasted. The area is called ‘Malik ka Bagicha’, but in papers, it is not registered like that. It has been registered as the property of the Municipal Council.” Notably, 4 persons were killed and over 100 police personnel sustained injuries in the violence. Internet services in the area have been suspended and Section 144 has been imposed in Haldwani. After a clash was reported from Mumbai's Mira Road, bulldozers razed illegal structures and encroachments in the Naya Nagar area of Mira Road on Tuesday. "Illegal structures and encroachments were razed by bulldozers in the Naya Nagar area of Mira Road where Ram Mandir Pran Pratishtha celebrations were stone pelted. After instructions from the Maharashtra government, action is being taken by the Municipal Corporation with the help of the police," the Maharashtra government said. Meanwhile, three persons were arrested in Mumbai and an FIR was filed against unknown individuals after at least four cases of outraging religious sentiments were filed in the city following the Mira Road Violence.

Ayodhya Ram Mandir: 10,000 CCTVs installed, 13000 security personnel deployed

Security beefed up in Ayodhya as the city gears up for the grand consecration ceremony of the Ram Temple on January 22.  Speaking on security arrangements in Ayodhya, Prashant Kumar, UP Special DG of Law & Order, said on January 21 that over 13,000 personnel have been deployed for the Ayodhya Ram Mandir consecration mega event. He also stated that over 10,000 CCTV cameras have been installed. He went on to say that the smooth completion of the Pran Pratishtha Ceremony is both a challenge and an opportunity for the Uttar Pradesh Police. The ceremony scheduled for January 22 will witness the installation of the idol of Ram Lalla at the grand temple. It is expected to be attended by hundreds of officials, including Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

2023 Qatar espionage case: Indian Navy Chief reacts on death penalty

Qatar shocked India with its recent verdict against the eight former Indian Navy officers. The eight former naval personnel were sentenced to death by the Court of First Instance of Qatar. Reacting to the 2023 Qatar espionage case, Indian Navy Chief said, “Govt putting all-out efforts to bring them back”. India called the ruling 'deeply shocking' and deployed all diplomatic channels to engage with Qatar on this case. In November, a court of appeal in Qatar accepted the Indian Govt’s application against the death sentence. The 8 former Indian Navy personnel were arrested in August 2022 for alleged espionage in Qatar. They were employees of Dahra Global, a Doha-based private defence services provider.
