How Futuristic Mobility Is Building an AI-Led Model for Electric Last-Mile Delivery

India's electric vehicle market is gaining commercial depth. The country recorded 2.3 million EV sales in 2025, accounting for 8% of new vehicle registrations, according to an India Energy Storage Alliance analysis of Vahan data. Electric two-wheelers contributed 1.28 million units. By June 2026, their share of two-wheeler sales had reached a record 10.6%, compared with 7% a year earlier, according to Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations data reported by Reuters.

Last-mile delivery presents a strong case for electrification. Delivery vehicles operate for long hours and accumulate considerable daily mileage. Lower running costs can support riders and fleet operators, while replacing conventional two-wheelers can reduce tailpipe emissions in crowded cities.

The model succeeds only when vehicles, batteries, maintenance, technology and rider support work together. A delivery rider cannot afford lengthy charging breaks or frequent mechanical failures. Fleet managers also require accurate payouts and visibility across every bike.

Futuristic Mobility is addressing these requirements through Yuvwaa Speed, its technology-enabled electric mobility platform. The company began operations on January 1, 2026, with 123 bikes and says it has since deployed over 2,000 electric two-wheelers across several cities. Its services include EV fleets, trained riders, fleet-management technology and on-road advertising solutions.

Building the system behind the fleet

Yuvwaa Speed's operating model rests on five pillars: people, process, technology, operational resilience and suitable partners. Its team includes professionals with experience in global technology companies, government and defence. The company documented operating procedures before introducing a deeper technology layer, recognising that software cannot compensate for unclear processes or unsuitable vehicles.

"Scaling an electric fleet begins with understanding what is at stake for the rider," said Samarth Mengji, co-founder of Futuristic Mobility. "The bike is directly linked to that person's income. Safety, vehicle quality, access to a charged battery and timely payments must function as one system. We built the organisation in sequence; people, detailed processes, technology and operational safeguards. That discipline helped us move from 123 bikes to over 2,000 in a period that, according to our assessment, has taken several operators years."

The company's original application and web interface have developed into the "Yuvwaa Speed brain application". The AI-powered platform monitors vehicle health, predicts rider performance, tracks key indicators and forecasts earnings. It also connects with banking applications and payment gateways to support weekly payouts across a large rider base.

Yuvwaa Speed charges riders Rs 59 per day plus Rs 1.50 per kilometre, which it describes as competitive in India and internationally. The company believes its pricing, rider-focused safety measures and proprietary AI platform place it in a category without a directly comparable competitor. That claim will ultimately be tested through uptime, rider retention and sustainable economics.

Expanding beyond metropolitan India

Last-mile demand is spreading into Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities as e-commerce networks extend their reach. Mengji cites Flipkart's presence in Tier 3 markets as one sign of this shift. He expects delivery requirements to rise across city categories, while the number of fleet companies capable of expanding profitably and reliably may narrow.

Battery-swapping coverage remains a major constraint. Riders need convenient access to charged batteries, since an unavailable swap can result in lost working hours. Yuvwaa Speed has partnered with Indofast to provide battery-swapping access at multiple locations and reduce downtime.

Vehicle durability presents another challenge. Commercial delivery bikes carry loads and operate for extended periods daily. Yuvwaa Speed believes they should maintain dependable performance across a five-to-six-year operating life. Its partnership with Ampere is intended to provide vehicles suited to intensive use.

"Our long-term goal is to convert operational data into climate intelligence," Mengji said. "Information from vehicles, batteries, routes and rider activity can help anticipate maintenance, improve energy use and prevent avoidable downtime. Environmental gains increase when electric vehicles remain productive for longer. Over the next five years, we want our technology to support two-wheelers, three-wheelers and four-wheelers, and eventually serve public and private transport through a common intelligence layer."

Yuvwaa Speed is consequently positioning itself as a mobility and data platform rather than a conventional fleet operator. Its ability to maintain vehicle quality, rider confidence and operating discipline while entering new cities will determine whether that ambition translates into durable growth.
