Explurger
Founder of Explurger, Jitin Bhatia was among a carefully chosen group of Indian-origin tech entrepreneurs invited to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to Johannesburg for the 2025 G20 Summit. The interaction, though brief and intimate, captured the Prime Minister's broader agenda of strengthening India's presence in the global tech landscape and encouraging founders who are building platforms with international relevance.
The 2025 G20 Summit - the first in the group's history to be hosted in Africa - carried symbolic and strategic significance. It brought together global leaders to discuss collective growth, social equity, and sustainable development. A major portion of the agenda this year revolved around digital public infrastructure, emerging technologies, and the cross-border movement of data, innovation, and talent. India, which has positioned itself as a champion of digital inclusion and interoperable tech frameworks, played a central role in steering these conversations.
During the session with entrepreneurs, Jitin Bhatia presented Explurger, a Made-in-India social media platform that blends travel logging, community interaction, gamification, and real-time discovery. The platform, which now serves over 18 million users across 75 countries, was highlighted as an example of how Indian technology is increasingly shaping global consumer behaviour. Bhatia shared insights on how travellers plan trips today, how digital tools influence destination choices, and how platforms like Explurger help build tourism ecosystems around real experiences rather than just curated content.
Expanding on the meeting, Jitin Bhatia said:
"The conversation with the Prime Minister was genuinely energising. Only eight entrepreneurs were invited for this interaction, and being one of them was a huge honour. Modi ji listened intently, asked pointed questions, and spoke about tourism and technology with surprising ease. He didn't come across as a distant policymaker - he felt more like someone who deeply understands the ground reality of startups. His clarity of thought and his confidence in India-built platforms made all of us feel proud of the direction in which the country is headed."
Prime Minister Modi used the discussion to underline the opportunities emerging across AI, digital mobility, tourism tech, and global community-building platforms. He encouraged the founders to continue drawing from India's innovation ecosystem while expanding their international footprint. He also stressed the role of Indian digital products in enhancing cultural visibility, enabling mobility, and giving emerging markets a stronger voice in the digital economy.
Explurger's presence at the G20 only strengthens its role in shaping global mobility, modern travel behaviour, and the future of digital identity. It's a proud testament to what a true "Make in India" success can look like.
