iPhone BBD 2026.
Every September the same question does the rounds in family WhatsApp groups: buy the iPhone now, or wait for Big Billion Days?
This year the answer is genuinely more complicated than usual, because two forces are pushing iPhone prices in opposite directions at once.
Flipkart hasn't confirmed dates yet. Going by the pattern - 27 September in 2024, 23 September in 2025 - most trackers expect the sale to open around 22-23 September, with Plus and Black members getting roughly 24 hours of early access. Amazon's Great Indian Festival is expected in the same window, which historically forces both platforms to shadow each other on iPhone pricing within hours.
Apple's event is on 9 September. But this year Apple is only launching the iPhone 18 Pro, the 18 Pro Max and its first foldable. There is no standard iPhone 18 - that model has been pushed to spring 2027.
That changes the festive maths completely. The reason the base iPhone always collapses in price during BBD is that its successor has just landed and retailers need the shelf space. With no iPhone 18 arriving, the iPhone 17 stays Apple's current entry flagship right through Diwali. Flipkart has far less pressure to slash it.
The iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max are the opposite case. Those are being replaced, and Apple typically drops old Pro models from its own lineup on launch day. Whatever stock sits with Flipkart, Amazon and Croma has to move - and that is where the deepest cuts usually show up.

~RS 48,500 (after bank offer) |

Two things worth noting. First, the iPhone 16's RS 51,999 low is a listed price, while the RS 48,500 BBD figure includes a card discount - always compare like with like. Second, the BBD 2026 column is an estimate, not a leak. Nobody outside Flipkart knows yet.
Pulling in the other direction is the DRAM and NAND crunch. Memory contract prices have surged as AI datacentre demand soaks up supply, and Tim Cook publicly described it as a "hundred-year flood" in chip pricing. Apple already raised prices on Macs, iPads and other hardware in June.
Indian dealer chatter through July and August pointed to an iPhone 17 revision that could add RS 12,000 or more to the base 256 GB model. This is why the old "expect a 29% BBD cut" rule is shaky. Trackers who were predicting an iPhone 17 at RS 58,499 earlier this year have already walked that back to the RS 63,000-RS 67,000 range.
Translation: this may be a festive season where the discount percentage looks smaller but the real saving is still there, simply because the baseline moved.
Look at the screenshot at the top of this page. iPhone 17 Pro 256 GB, listed at RS 1,32,900 against RS 1,34,900 - Flipkart calls that a 1% saving. But its 30-day average is RS 1,25,010. The phone is currently sitting about RS 7,900 above what it has actually been selling for all month. That is why the buy score reads 28 out of 100.
This is the most common festive trap in Indian e-commerce. Prices drift upward in the two or three weeks before a big sale, so the "sale price" is often just a return to normal.
Two habits protect you:
Set a price alert now, before the sale opens. The genuinely good iPhone deals in the last two BBD editions lasted minutes, not days - and the ones that stayed live all week were usually the ones that weren't much of a deal.
Wait. But wait with a target number rather than a feeling.
If you want the iPhone 16, the RS 49,000-RS 53,000 band is your yardstick; anything above RS 55,000 is not a festive price. If you want the iPhone 17, treat RS 67,000 as your ceiling. And if the iPhone 17 Pro is what you're eyeing, hold on until after the 9 September event - that is when the current-generation Pro stops being current, and the price finally starts moving.
