Vineet Singh Hukmani.
Vineet, you've just achieved another historic milestone in music. Can you tell us more about it
Vineet Singh Hukmani : This is truly a special moment. I've become the first artist in the world to create a licensed tribute to the 50th anniversary of Hotel California, the legendary 1976 track by the Eagles. It's a song that has shaped generations of musicians and listeners globally.
What inspired you to reinterpret such an iconic song?
Vineet : Hotel California is one of those songs that almost every musician learns as their first song on the guitar . Recreating it is both an honor and a responsibility. I wanted to present it through a fresh lens while respecting its emotional depth and lyrical brilliance.
How is your re-imagined version different from the original?
Vineet: I've reimagined the track in a contemporary hip-hop style, blending it with Indian musical elements like tabla and sitar. The idea was to elevate it into an anthemic experience while still preserving the soul of the original. It can be heard here: https://vineet.today/reimagined
This release follows your "Re-Imagined Classics" series. How has that journey been so far?
Vineet: Earlier this year, I was the first artist in the world to release licensed tribute versions of songs by Michael Jackson-including Thriller, Billie Jean, and Beat It-ahead of the biopic Michael. That set a global precedent, and this new tribute continues that journey.
What makes your "Re-Imagined Classics" series unique?
Vineet: It's about respectfully reinterpreting timeless music for modern audiences. The goal is not just to recreate but to re-express these classics in a way that resonates with today's listeners across cultures.
Are there more tributes planned in this series?
Vineet: Absolutely. The series includes tributes to global artists and bands like Def Leppard, Scorpions, Bobby McFerrin, George Michael, Whitney Houston, Whitesnake, The Doors, Phil Collins and more - with many more releases scheduled through 2026.
You are having a very prolific year. How do you reflect on it?
Vineet: I feel incredibly grateful. Alongside my English originals, I've been contracted to work on these re-imagined classics by a US based agency. This year, I'm also releasing my first Hindi and Punjabi singles through an Indian agency. It is exciting to explore so many genres and languages.
You have been titled a âgenre chameleon'. How do you manage such versatility?
Vineet: I've always believed in exploring music without boundaries. Whether it's pop, hip-hop, rock, reggae, blues, house, country or global fusion. Each genre offers a new way to express my creativity.
What does this tribute to Hotel California represent for you personally?
Vineet: It's both a celebration and a bridge-connecting eras, cultures, and sounds. It's about honoring a legacy while making it accessible and meaningful for new generations
