L&T CSR.
While corporate success is usually measured in terms of metrics like order book size, revenues, and profits, there is another story unfolding at L&T-one measured not just in balance sheets, but also in the lives transformed. Under the leadership of Chairman and Managing Director SN Subrahmanyan, L&T has continued to strengthen its focus on creating long-term social impact alongside engineering and infrastructure development.
In FY 2025-26, L&T's CSR initiatives positively impacted more than 1.9 million people, supporting education, skill development, healthcare, water conservation, and community development across India. Through focused interventions in education, healthcare, water conservation, and skill development, the company is complementing several national priorities championed by PM Narendra Modi-through flagship programmes like Skill India, Jal Shakti Abhiyan, Jal Jeevan Mission, and Atal Tinkering Labs, and many more, all aligned with the broader vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.
Turning Classrooms into Innovation Hubs
India's ambition to become a global technology and manufacturing powerhouse begins in its classrooms. Supporting this vision, Project Jyoti is helping nurture the next generation of scientists, engineers, and innovators through quality STEM education.
During the year, the programme reached 51,741 students across 341 schools, helping improve conceptual understanding and academic performance in Mathematics and Science. By strengthening foundational STEM learning, the initiative aligns with the National Education Policy's emphasis on experiential learning while reinforcing the government's push towards scientific temper, innovation, and future-ready education.
Changing Lives, One Community at a Time
Development is meaningful only when it reaches the last mile. Through Project Nayi Disha, L&T has adopted an integrated approach to community development across Jharkhand, Bihar, and Odisha, in districts which are source locations for migration to urban areas for daily wage work, and this has positively impacted more than 26,000 lives.
The initiative improves access to education, strengthens healthcare outcomes, empowers women, and supports families in building resilient, self-reliant communities. Its holistic design resonates with the government's focus on inclusive development, women's empowerment, and aspirational districts, ensuring that growth reaches communities that need it the most.
Creating India's Skilled Workforce
India's demographic dividend can become its greatest strength only through large-scale skilling. Supporting the vision of Skill India, PM Kaushal Vikas Yojana, and a future-ready workforce, L&T continues to invest in vocational education through its network of 10 Construction Skills Training Institutes (CSTIs).
During FY 2025-26, more than 13,000 trainees received industry-relevant vocational training in L&T's CSTIs. These institutes are equipping young Indians with employable skills that not only enhance livelihoods but also contribute to building the skilled workforce required for India's rapidly expanding infrastructure and manufacturing sectors.
Every Drop Counts
Water security remains one of India's defining development challenges. Through Project Unnati, L&T is helping communities become more climate-resilient while supporting national water conservation efforts.
The initiative benefited over 30,000 households across water-stressed regions of Maharashtra, Rajasthan, and Tamil Nadu, covering more than 46,000 hectares. Most significantly, the project has resulted in an average increase of 9.95 metres in groundwater levels, creating lasting improvements in water availability, agricultural productivity, and rural livelihoods. This, in fact, complements the Jal Jeevan Mission which, since 2019, has provided tap water to more than 15 crore rural households by bringing water to the doorstep, resulting in a marked improvement in health and living conditions of women, thereby empowering them.
CSR with a Nation-Building Mindset
What distinguishes L&T's CSR approach is its focus on creating measurable, long-term outcomes rather than isolated interventions. Reflecting SN Subrahmanyan's emphasis on responsible and sustainable growth, whether improving STEM education, strengthening healthcare access, empowering women, developing employable skills, or restoring water resources, every initiative contributes to India's broader vision of Viksit Bharat 2047. As India progresses towards this goal, L&T's CSR initiatives demonstrate how businesses can complement national priorities while creating lasting value for communities, reinforcing the role of responsible business in nation-building.
