Kranti Redkar was born on 17 August 1982 into a Marathi Bhandari family in Mumbai to Dinanath and Urmila Redkar. Her father, Dinanath, is an actor, producer, director, and writer. Her brother, Omkar, is a prominent writer.
Kranti Redkar made her debut with the Marathi film Soon Asavi Ashi in 2000 and has since given numerous hit performances in movies like Shahanpan Dega Deva, Kho Kho, Murder Mestri, and others.
Kranti has been working in acting since she was just five years old. Despite multiple stints, she is best known for her cult hit song "Kombdi Palali" from Jatra: Hyalagaad Re Tyalagaad (2005).
She is also remembered by many for her short role in the 2003 Bollywood film Gangajal, which featured Ajay Devgn and Gracy Singh in the lead roles.
She appeared in the 2014 American film The Letters, starring Juliet Stevenson, which was inspired by Mother Teresa’s letters.
In 2015, she made her directorial debut with the film Kaakan, starring Jitendra Joshi and Urmila Kanitkar. She also wrote two soulful songs for the film.
Kranti Redkar and Sameer Wankhede's love story began in college but rekindled at an airport reunion in 2010. They got married in 2017 and welcomed twin daughter- Ziya and Zyada.
For the unversed, Kranti is Sameer’s second wife. He was earlier married to Dr. Shabana Qureshi. The marriage, which was performed under the Special Marriage Act at the request of his late mother, resulted in a mutual divorce in 2016.
