Zubeen Garg death: Heartbreaking photos from singer’s last rites

Zubeen Garg's tragic passing away has left the country and the people of Assam in a state of shock. The singer died during a scuba diving incident in Singapore on September 19. His mortal remains were brought back to the country on September 21, where his fans gathered in large numbers for his last rites at the Guwahati airport. His body has been kept at the Bhogeswar Baruah Stadium in the city for people to pay their respects to the legendary singer one last time before he is cremated on September 23. Zubeen Garg last rites

The Chief Minister of Assam, Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, was seen arriving at the Guwahati airport to receive the mortal remains of Zubeen, where he paid his respects to the singer.

Zubeen Garg's wife Garima Saikia Garg was seen arriving at the airport to receive her husband's mortal remains and accompany him on his final journey. She was also seen breaking down at the airport as she received his body.

Assam CM was also seen placing a shawl on the coffin as a sign of honouring the late singer.

Garima was seen breaking down and crying inconsolably on seeing her husband's face as he lay lifeless in the coffin.

Fans were seen gathering in large numbers at the airport to receive Zubeen Garg's mortal remains.

He was taken from the Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport through the VIP exit in a flower-bedecked ambulance to his home.

A human ocean was seen on the streets of Guwahati as many joined Zubeen on his final journey.

Fans were seen paying their respects to the late singer at memorials erected in his honour throughout the city.

Thousands of fans arrived at the airport on Saturday evening and waited all night for the singer's mortal remains to reach the state.

Fans were seen standing in long queues outside the Bhogeswar Baruah Stadium to catch a final glimpse of the singer.

His mortal remains were placed for the public to pay their last respects to their beloved singer.

Huge crowds thronged on the streets and surrounded the ambulance in which Zubeen's mortal remains were taken to his home. 

Several fans were seen breaking down as they bid farewell and paid their respects to the legendary singer.

Orbituary posters were seen throughout the airport and the city as his mortal remains reached the city of Guwahati.
