Amitabh Bachchan made a surprising family revelation involving Saif Ali Khan on the latest episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati. Saif appeared on the popular quiz show with his Haiwaan co-star Akshay Kumar. During their conversation, Amitabh revealed that the two of them actually share a family connection. Big B seemed surprised as the bond wasn't widely known.
The revelation appeared in the latest promo of KBC, with Amitabh Bachchan explaining how their families are connected. During the episode, Big B said, "Sir, many people don't know that Saif is in our relation." Saif was clearly amused and responded, "Me?"
Amitabh Bachchan then went on to explain how their families are linked. The lesser-known connection runs through the Kapoor and Nanda families. Bachchan's daughter Shweta is married to Nikhil Nanda, the son of Ritu Nanda, who was Raj Kapoor's daughter. He said, "Raj Kapoor's daughter Ritu's son Nikhil is married to my daughter Shweta."
Raj Kapoor is Kareena Kapoor's grandfather. So, Nikhil Nanda and Kareena Kapoor are first cousins. Since Saif is married to Kareena, his connection with Bachchans comes through marriage.
The revelation also led Amitabh to a rather fun question. After explaining their relationship, Amitabh jokingly asked how he should address Kareena. He asked, "So now I want to know how I should address Kareena? Kareena will call me what?" Saif couldn't resist a humorous response, saying, "Thank God that's not a question."
Shweta Bachchan married Nikhil Nanda in 1997. The couple has two children, daughter Navya Naveli Nanda and son Agastya Nanda.
Keeping the family connection aside, Amitabh Bachchan and Saif Ali Khan have also shared screen space over the years. The two have worked together in films such as Eklavya: The Royal Guard (2007) and Aarakshan (2011).
Saif and Akshay Kumar, meanwhile, appeared on Kaun Banega Crorepati to promote their upcoming film Haiwaan. The crime thriller is reportedly a remake of the 2016 Malayalam film Oppam and also stars Boman Irani, Shriya Pilgaonkar and Saiyami Kher in pivotal roles. Helmed by Priyadarshan, the film is slated to hit theatres on September 11.
