Apparently, Sridevi has turned down an offer to play a negative character once made famous by Robert De Niro in Abhishek Kapoor's next film

She may have done diverse roles in the past but looks like Sridevi may have got cold feet towards a film offer for a negative character. Sources close to the actress say that Sri was offered a film based on Charles Dickens' Great Expectations.

Insiders say Abhishek Kapoor approached her for his next film, 'Fitoor'. Sri had earlier played a character with shades of grey in 'Judaai'.

A source says, "Everyone is waiting to see what her next film is after 'English Vinglish'. The film has Katrina Kaif as the leading lady. Sushant Singh Rajput, who was earlier a part of the film, recently walked out of the project. Abhishek wanted Sridevi for a role, which was played by Robert De Niro in the 1998 big screen version of the novel. Abhishek tweaked the script and made it female-oriented."

However, a source from the production house says, "Sridevi couldn't be part of the film, as she thought she wasn't the right choice for the role."
