Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra has been forced to shelve plans of making a historical with Sonam Kapoor after producers showed unwillingness in investing in it. During Delhi-6, Rakeysh had got the idea to make a film on the legendary folk tale about doomed lovers Mirza and Sahibaan in Punjab. He had even started calling Sonam 'Sahibaan' as he wanted her in the lead role. But Delhi-6 bombed big time at the box office. Then Kites bombed, and Rakesh Roshan withdrew his plans to let Rakeysh direct the sequel to Krrish, preferring to do it himself. The Rang De Basanti director has now found that no producer wants to back his Sahibaan project, and has thus decided to shelve it.
