The trailer for Akka is out, bringing Keerthy Suresh and Radhika Apte together in a fierce battle for power, legacy and revenge. Set in the fictional kingdom of Pernuru, the upcoming gangster drama follows two formidable women whose conflicting ambitions threaten to disrupt an order shaped by generations of female leadership. Produced by YRF Entertainment, the series is written and directed by Dharmaraj Shetty and will premiere on Netflix on October 30.
The trailer introduces Pernuru as a world where women hold positions of authority and fiercely protect their territory. However, the kingdom's established order faces a challenge when an outsider threatens the legacy that has kept its powerful houses together. As loyalties are tested and old wounds resurface, tensions escalate, setting the stage for an intense rivalry.
At the centre of the conflict are Bhavani, played by Keerthy Suresh, and Rudra, portrayed by Radhika. While both women are determined to protect their interests, their differing beliefs and ambitions put them on a collision course. The trailer offers glimpses of a world driven by shifting loyalties, family ties and the pursuit of control, with the two actors leading the face-off.
Speaking about her role, Keerthy described Bhavani as a woman who knows what she stands for and is willing to go to great lengths to safeguard her legacy. "Bhavani is a woman who knows what she stands for and will go to great lengths to protect her legacy. What makes her interesting is that beneath her strength and authority are choices that are never easy, especially when the stakes are so high," the actor said.
Radhika, meanwhile, described Rudra as someone who refuses to be defined by her circumstances. She highlighted how the conflict goes beyond the question of who holds power, exploring the beliefs, loyalties and personal stakes that shape the characters' decisions. The ensemble cast includes Tanvi Azmi, Mahesh Manjrekar, Anshuman Pushkar and Monica Panwar, among others.
The series introduces audiences to a distinctive fictional world where women are at the centre of power. Director Dharmaraj Shetty said he wanted to approach the gangster genre through a world governed by its own rules, with relationships and characters rarely seen at the centre of such stories.
Akka marks the latest collaboration between Netflix and YRF Entertainment, following projects including The Romantics, The Railway Men, Maharaj and Mandala Murders. With its focus on a kingdom shaped by generations of women, the series promises a clash of ambitions and loyalties as Bhavani and Rudra fight to protect their place in Pernuru. Akka premieres on Netflix on October 30.
