Actor Emraan Hashmi, who is basking in the success of his latest release, Awarapan 2 over Batwara 1947, recently hinted at the possibility of a third instalment. The actor recently joined moviegoers at a Mumbai screening to celebrate the strong response with fans. Accompanied by his co-star Disha Patani, Emraan teased that the next instalment to the 2007 original could arrive soon.
Awarapan 2 hit the screens on Friday, wherein it opened to a strong response from audiences, grossing over Rs 20 crore at the box office. The sequel to Hashmi's 2007 cult classic had already recorded impressive advance bookings ahead of its release, while its Day 1 earnings added to its impressive numbers.
Emraan and Disha were seen visiting a Mumbai theatre during the interval of Awarapan 2 after the film's release, where the two interacted with fans, speaking about the response to the film.
Addressing the audience at the cinema hall, Emraan said, "This is a film which belongs to fans more than the makers isiliye hum wapis aaye abhi, is journey ko humne aur thrilling banaya with more action and more emotions. Friday ko bas humare haath se nikal gayi aur aapke hawale (This is a film that belongs to the fans more than the makers, which is why we have returned. We have made this journey even more thrilling with more action and emotions. On Friday, the film will be out of our hands and in yours)."
An excited fan present there predicted that the film would become a super-hit; to this, Emraan said, "Movie baaki hai, second half better hai (The movie is not over yet; the second half is better)." Emraan then sent the crowd into a frenzy by hinting at a potential third instalment, saying, "Umeed yahi hai ki aapko puri film pasand aayegi. Hopefully, Awarapan 3 very soon (We hope you enjoy the entire film, and hopefully)."
Helmed by Nitin Kakkar and produced by Vishesh Films, Awarapan 2 marks the return of Emraan Hashmi's Shivam Pandit from the 2007 original. The romantic action thriller revolves around the themes of child trafficking, revenge and redemption. The film also stars Disha Patani stars as Zara, while Shabana Azmi portrays gangster queen Nafisa. The supporting cast of the film also includes Suvinder Vicky, Vijayant Kohli and Puran Gabbi.
