Prime Video has dropped the intense new trailer of its upcoming investigative thriller Babita Singh Reporting, led by Nimisha Sajayan. The Prime Original movie follows a young police officer whose hunt for a murderer becomes increasingly personal, pulling her into a web of secrets, suspicion and revelations she never saw coming.

A murder hits close to home

Directed by Ambiecka Pandit and written by Amita Vyas, the film also features Barun Sobti and Anshumaan Pushkar in pivotal roles. Babita Singh Reporting will premiere on Prime Video on August 28 in Hindi with English subtitles.

The trailer introduces viewers to Babita Singh, affectionately known as Baby, played by Nimisha Sajayan. Her life is turned upside down when her childhood friend Bansi, portrayed by Barun Sobti, is murdered.

What begins as an investigation soon becomes much more complicated. Determined to find Bansi's killer, Baby starts following a trail of clues, only to stumble upon secrets and revelations that bring the case dangerously close to her own life. As the mystery deepens, she is forced to question everything she thought she knew about the people around her.

The trailer promises a thriller that is not just about identifying a killer but also about the emotional consequences of discovering the truth. With the case taking increasingly personal turns, Baby finds herself caught between her duty as a police officer and the painful realities the investigation uncovers.

More than a murder mystery

Director Ambiecka Pandit said the film looks beyond the central murder mystery. "It is a story about an investigation that quietly unravels much more than just a murder," she shared, adding that she wanted the film's mystery and emotional core to move together while keeping the storytelling grounded.

Pandit also pointed out that the film touches upon the realities many women deal with, including having their emotions dismissed and constantly being expected to adjust.

For Nimisha, Babita is a character who has stayed with her beyond the shoot. Calling Baby one of the most meaningful roles of her career, the actor said playing the character made her reflect on her own relationships and the ways people often compromise without even realising it.

The film is executive produced by Sudip Sharma and produced by Saurabh Malhotra, Manuj Mittra and Tina Tharwani under Film Squad Productions in association with Act Three.

With a murder at its centre, a cop searching for answers and a truth that may hit closer to home than expected, Babita Singh Reporting is gearing up to be a suspenseful ride when it lands on Prime Video on August 28.
