Among those reacting to her comments was spiritual psychotherapist Shruti Desai, who claimed that she was briefly Bhumi's teacher at a Mumbai-based acting school. Desai questioned Bhumi's stance on "respect" and "responsibility," recalling the actress's behaviour in her early days.

Bhumi Pednekkar's former teacher questions her approach

Taking to Instagram, Desai shared a post in which she revisited her short stint as Bhumi's teacher at a Mumbai-based acting school. She even questioned the actress over what she called her apparent shift in perspective.

In a post on social media, Desai wrote, "bhumisatishpednekkar I remember I was, briefly, one of your teachers at a Mumbai-based film school. Unfortunately for me, I also remember how disrespectful, almost disdainful, you were about your teachers. Care to explain your new approach towards the concepts of respect and responsibility and how your worldview changed so drastically in the interim?"

Notably, Shruti Desai's post comes at a time when Bhumi Pednekkar is facing severe backlash over her recent video related to the NEET-UG 2026 protests. While many social media users praised Desai for voicing her opinion and criticised Bhumi, others noted that it was unfair to judge the actress based on incidents from her teenage years.

Bhumi Pednekkar continues to face backlash

For the unversed, the latest backlash stems from Bhumi's recent videos addressing the NEET-UG 2026 protests. Earlier this week, Bhumi uploaded a video of herself where she was seen condemning the abusive language allegedly directed at Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the student protests.

The actress noted that such insulting language was unacceptable, especially when towards someone in the country's highest constitutional office. She further added that respectful dialogue was the only way to bring about meaningful change in the country.

However, her comments sparked criticism among users online. Many users accused the actress of failing to address the issue of police action against protesting students, including the use of lathi-charge, tear gas and forced dispersal during the July 20 Sansad March.
