'Photoshoot more than worship': Bhumi Pednekkar trolled for wearing sunglasses while performing rituals in a temple

Actor Bhumi Pednekkar started the auspicious month of Sawan of the Hindu calendar on Thursday, July 30. She took to social media to share glimpses of her visit to a temple as she performed rituals. However, the pictures and video did not sit well with many users on the internet, who slammed the actress for wearing sunglasses inside a temple while offering her prayers.

On Thursday, Bhumi took to Instagram to share a couple of photos and a video of herself offering water to a Shivling. She was also seen sitting beside the Shivling and praying.

In one of the pictures, Bhumi was seen sitting with folded hands near the Shivling, while another showed her standing and bowing down and touching the Shivling in reverence. In a video, she was seen offering water and praying as she wore a black top with blue denim jeans. She completed her look with black sunglasses and a sacred tulsi necklace around her neck.

In the caption, the actress wrote, "As Sawan begins, I pray not for an easier life, but for the strength to walk it with grace. Har Har Mahadev."

Internet reacts

While some of her fans praised her for being grounded and spiritual, others were disappointed with her for wearing sunglasses while praying and performing the rituals. One user commented, "Sunglasses utar ke pooja kar sakte the (You could have offered prayers without the sunglasses)?" Another commented, "Never saw anyone wearing goggles and doing Pooja."

A user even quipped, "Mandir mein bhagwan ki bhakti kar rahe hai ya photoshoot (Is this bhakti inside the temple or a chance to do photoshoot)?" Another user advised the actress, "Next time do puja without sunglasses inside temple please." One user even called it show off saying, "Bc goggle toh utaar lo…faltu show off karna hai yaha bhi."

Criticising Bhumi, a user wrote, "Photo shoot more than worshipping Mahadev - please don't post such things." Others made light of the situation taking playful jibes at the actress and her action. A user wrote, "Kuch bhi ho sunglass nahi nikalna chahiye," while another said, "Style me pooja kar shakte he muje aj pata chata"
