Big B, Shabana Azmi mourn AK Hangal's death

Amitabh Bachchan and Shabana Azmi mourned the passing away of veteran actor AK Hangal, who died on Sunday.


Bollywood seniors like Amitabh Bachchan and Shabana Azmi posted tweets mourning the death of veteran actor AK Hangal, who breathed his last on Sunday in a Mumbai hospital.

He was 98 and had not been keeping well for some time. His condition was worsened after a recent hip fracture.

Big B, who has acted with Hangal in Sholay among other films, tweeted on Sunday, "AK Hangal , passes away this morning !! A veteran, a gentleman, a congenial co artist and a master at his work !!"

Azmi said on Twitter, "Ak Hangal no more...An era comes to an end. Theatre and film were enriched by him."

Director Shekhar Kapur posted this - "AK Hangal. Lifetime dedicated 2 d art of acting in theatre. Will always b remembered by his films."

Of the current crop, Priyanka Chopra and Farhan Akhtar expressed their condolences through tweets.

Chopra tweeted, "Thank u AK Hangal Ji for all the cinematic memories... This year has been a huge loss for us.. My condolences to the family. RIP."

Akhtar said,"A stalwart of Indian theatre and film is no more. RIP AK Hangal."
