Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan's 'Dangal' has beaten Salman Khan's 'Sultan' at the box office to become 2016's highest grossing film by collecting over Rs 304 crore in India in just 13 days

Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan's 'Dangal' has beaten Salman Khan's 'Sultan' at the box office to become 2016's highest grossing film.

Trade analyst Taran Adrash said 'Dangal' has collected over Rs 304 crore in India, surpassing 'Sultan' that raked in Rs 300.45 crore in India.

Besides 'Dangal', only three films have entered the Rs. 300-crore club -- Aamir Khan's 'pk' (Rs. 340.8 crore) and Salman Khan's 'Bajrangi Bhaijaan' (Rs. 321 crore) and 'Sultan' (Rs. 300.45 crore).

'Dangal', based on the life of wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat and directed by Nitesh Tiwari, released in the theatres on December 23.

It has been made tax free in Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi.
