Amrit Kashyap
Life in the entertainment industry is like a marathon, not a sprint," says Amrit Kashyap, who made his Bollywood debut with Nitesh Tiwari's Chhichhore (2019), and followed it up with several films, daily soaps, and web shows.
The Whistling Woods alumnus has been spending his free time honing his writing skills. While he cannot divulge details, he reveals that he is already in talks with a few big production houses for his yet-untitled film. Kashyap is well aware that insisting on leading projects himself may not always be feasible, but he says he has found a way around it.
"Writing has always been my strength. When I was studying in film school, I took screenwriting as an elective as I wanted to understand how films are written and made," shares the actor.
Kashyap explains that the script he initially wrote - before several rewrites - was meant to be a seven-part series, but he is now pitching it as a film. "It is based on my life experiences, so it's personal. It has happened several times that they didn't want to cast me. I understood that the production houses might not want to put all their money on me. So, I took a pivot and [pitched it as] an ensemble project, with seven other leads." With the constant hustle to bag projects, Kashyap says, "I want to write, direct, and produce to create opportunities for myself."
