Still from Dhurandhar
Dhurandhar, directed by Aditya Dhar, is all set to release in theatres on December 5. The film, starring Ranveer Singh, Sara Arjun, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, R. Madhavan, and others, is a spy drama inspired by true incidents. It has been widely reported that the film also has a second part; however, the makers have not officially announced it. Now, senior actor Rakesh Bedi, who is part of Dhar's directorial, has confirmed that the sequel has already been shot.
In a conversation with ITV Blink, Rakesh Bedi said that his character becomes far more prominent in the second part of Dhurandhar. Bedi plays a politician inspired by a real-life Pakistani leader. "In Dhurandhar Part 1, I will be seen a little less, but I will be seen more in the second part⦠My character is very endearing and menacing," he said.
Bedi had earlier worked with Dhar in Uri: The Surgical Strike. Impressed with his skills, the director had promised to work with Bedi again. The filmmaker kept his promise and offered Bedi a role when the film went on floors in January 2024.
Dhurandhar has a long runtime of 3 hours and 34 minutes and has been cleared by the CBFC with an A certificate. This makes it the longest Bollywood film to hit the big screens in 17 years.
While there is no official date for the second part's release, Bedi confirmed that the sequel has been shot and is currently in post-production. When asked when it will release, he said, "It will be released in a couple of months at the most."
Recently, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) cleared the Aditya Dhar directorial by granting it an âAdult Only - A' certificate. The certificate has now gone viral on social media, where netizens noticed that it mentions the film's plot. It revealed that the film revolves around the Kandahar hijacking of December 1999.
As mentioned in the certificate, the plot reads: "Set against the backdrop of the IC-814 hijacking in 1999 and the 2001 Indian Parliament attack, the film follows India's Intelligence Bureau Chief Ajay Sanyal, who crafts a daring and indomitable mission to infiltrate and dismantle a powerful terrorist network operating out of Pakistan. To execute this high-risk operation, Sanyal recruits an unlikely asset - a 20-year-old boy from Punjab, held captive for committing a revenge-driven crime. Recognising the boy's potential and raw intensity, Sanyal decides to mould him into a weapon capable of penetrating Karachi's ruthless underworld mafia."
