While audiences walked into theatres cheering for Cocktail 2, they came out in awe after the teaser of Eetha wreaked havoc online. However, the glimpse was leaked online, with netizens going gaga over Shraddha Kapoor's transformation into legendary folk dancer Vithabai Narayangaonkar. Now, Maddock Films and Kathputli Creations have unveiled the highly anticipated teaser of Eetha, offering a striking first glimpse into what promises to be one of the most powerful and emotionally resonant films of the year.
The teaser offers a glimpse into one of the most remarkable chapters of Vithabai's life. It shows her character heavily pregnant and preparing to take the stage despite being on the verge of childbirth. Moments later, she appears on stage and continues the show after giving birth to her child backstage. When she is warned that her life is in danger, we hear her saying, "Pade pade mari toh bechari kehlaungi, nachte hue mari toh misaal ban jaungi. (If I die while simply lying around, people would call me a helpless woman, but if I die while dancing, I will become an inspiration)."
Eetha's teaser has already sparked widespread excitement, earning praise for its haunting visuals, emotional depth, and compelling storytelling. Shraddha Kapoor's transformation has particularly become the talking point, with audiences hailing it as one of the most intense and impactful performances of her career. Her commanding screen presence, coupled with the film's evocative tone, makes Eetha an instantly intriguing watch.
Based on the extraordinary life of legendary Marathi Lavani dancer Vithabai Narayangaonkar, Eetha celebrates the journey of one of Maharashtra's most influential folk artists. Revered for her iconic Lavani and Tamasha performances, Vithabai captivated generations of audiences and was honoured by the President of India in 1957 and 1990 for her immense contribution to India's folk theatre tradition.
The film also marks Shraddha Kapoor's reunion with producer Dinesh Vijan after the blockbuster success of the Stree franchise. Directed by Laxman Utekar, the film also stars Zeeshan Ayub Khan and Randeep Hooda. The film arrives in cinemas on August 28. To note, it will witness a clash with Yash's Toxic and Tamannaah Bhatia's Vvan.
