Shraddha Kapoor is all set to return to the big screen with Eetha, a biographical drama based on the extraordinary life of legendary Marathi Tamasha and Lavani performer Vithabai Bhau Mang Narayangaonkar. Directed by Laxman Utekar and backed by Maddock Films and Kathputli Creations, the film traces the journey of a woman who rose from humble beginnings to become a celebrated name in Maharashtra's folk theatre tradition.
Released on October 30, the trailer offers a glimpse into Vithabai's fascinating world while showcasing the state's rich artistic and cultural heritage. The movie, also starring Randeep Hooda and Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, is slated to hit theatres on December 4, 2026.
The trailer of Eetha introduces Shraddha Kapoor as the titular character, stepping into the shoes of a real cultural icon whose world revolves around love, life and dance. Against the vibrant atmosphere of Maharashtra's traditional folk performances, Shraddha brings Vithabai's story to life. The trailer also offers a closer look at the challenges she encountered and the cultural landscape in which she established herself as a celebrated performer.
The biographical drama will explore the demands of her creative career and the personal obstacles that accompanied her journey. While the makers have kept much of the storyline under wraps, the film sheds light on a performer whose life and legacy continue to be deeply rooted in Maharashtra's cultural heritage.
Eetha also stars Anant Joshi, Siddharth Jadhav, Akshara Singh, Ulka Gupta, and others. Randeep Hooda's first look poster earlier introduced him as Anna Sawant Merchant, Vithabai's husband. Helmed by Laxman Utekar and written by Kshitij Patwardhan, the film's music has been composed by Ajay-Atul and cinematography has been handled by Akash Agrawal. The musical is expected to play a key role in bringing the world of Maharashtra's folk culture on-screen.
Eetha is slated to hit the big screen on December 4, 2026. The movie was originally scheduled for an August release, but it was later postponed to December.
