Actor Vijay Varma addressed a viral social media post that was being widely shared in his name, with many users assuming that the actor had spoken about his own experiences with reservation and privilege. The post, which discussed the debate around reservation and equal opportunities, narrated the story of two friends from different economic backgrounds appearing for a government examination. It highlighted how financial privilege can create differences in access, while also discussing the importance of giving everyone a fair chance.
As the message circulated online, several users linked it to Vijay, believing it reflected his personal views. However, the actor stepped in to clear the confusion. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Vijay wrote, "I never posted this. This is all false."
His clarification came amid ongoing conversations around education, student concerns and opportunities, with several public figures using their platforms to share their views on social issues.
Recently, Vijay also reacted to Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan's resignation amid the student protests over alleged examination irregularities. The actor shared an Instagram post following the announcement, using a lyric of the song Channa Mereya from Ae Dil Hai Mushkil movie.
On the work front, Vijay Varma was last seen in Matka King, a crime drama series that explored the rise of the matka gambling network in Mumbai during the 1960s and 1970s. The actor played Brij Bhatti, a man who rises from humble beginnings and builds an empire around the controversial gambling business.
Directed by Nagraj Manjule, the series marked another collaboration between Vijay and a story centred around complex characters and social realities. His performance added to his growing reputation for taking on roles that are driven by ambition, conflict and moral grey areas.
Before Matka King, Vijay appeared in projects including Dahaad, Jaane Jaan and Darlings, where he continued to experiment with challenging roles. From playing intense antagonists to emotionally layered characters, the actor has built a distinct identity through unconventional performances.
With his recent choices, Vijay has continued to remain one of the actors who frequently sparks conversations, both through his performances and his occasional engagement with social issues online.
