There had been buzz for a while about Dangal (2016) actress Fatima Sana Shaikh being roped in for Thugs of Hindostan starring Amitabh Bachchan and Aamir Khan. A photo of her look test had gone viral recently. Yesterday, the film's writer-director Vijay Krishna Acharya finally announced Fatima's casting.

In a media release, he said, "The role of the girl is pivotal to the film, so it was crucial for us to find the perfect fit. Through a rigorous round of auditions and workshops, we found in Fatima a dedicated actor and a gifted performer of action."
Shooting begins next month and the film is slated for a Diwali 2018 release. Those in the know state Aamir apparently was keen to have his Dangal co-star on board.
