Actor Harsh Varrdhan Kapoor recently addressed questions about his long absence from the big screen after a fan asked whether he had quit acting. The actor, whose last film release was Thar in 2022, clarified that he has no plans to step away from cinema and explained why he prefers a slower, more selective approach to his career.
The conversation began when a social media user pointed out that Harsh had not appeared in a film for nearly four years and asked if he had left acting altogether. Responding to the speculation, the actor made it clear that he is still very much invested in the profession but chooses projects differently from many of his contemporaries.
According to Harsh, audiences have become accustomed to seeing actors release multiple projects every year, which often creates the impression that anyone who isn't constantly visible has disappeared from the industry. Sharing his perspective, he wrote, "People are used to actors doing multiple films a year."
The actor explained that his focus has always been on finding projects that genuinely excite him rather than signing films simply to remain visible. Over the years, Harsh has built a reputation for backing unconventional stories and taking creative risks with films such as Mirzya, Bhavesh Joshi Superhero, and Thar.
His comments are consistent with statements he has made in previous interviews, where he emphasized that he is driven more by passion than by the pressure to maintain a packed release calendar. "I can't really imagine taking up something that's not a passion project," he had said earlier while discussing his film choices.
Harsh's career trajectory has often differed from that of mainstream Bollywood stars. Instead of chasing quantity, he has repeatedly spoken about prioritising stories he believes in, even if that means spending years developing a project. The actor has also expressed his preference for films that challenge him creatively rather than conforming to conventional commercial formulas.
While fans continue to wait for his next on-screen appearance, Harsh's latest response suggests that the gap between releases is a deliberate choice rather than a sign of retirement. For the actor, quality and creative satisfaction appear to matter more than maintaining a constant presence in theatres, and he seems comfortable following his own path despite industry expectations.
