Govinda and Bhumi Pednekkar
Actor Bhumi Pednekkar has admitted that some of her career choices were mistakes. Speaking at the We the Women event, Bhumi said, "I have made mistakes. One of the biggest ones was where I kind of diluted the fact that I had made a career out of the fact that I had agency. At times, you are just tempted because you want that Rs 200 crore hit." Bhumi stressed she would draw a firm line, saying, "I would not do a character where there is disrespect to my gender. I have worked very, very hard to create a space led by performance," she added.
Actor Govinda has responded to criticism over his recent appearances at events, which some on social media described as "small shows". Addressing the remarks in an interview with Siddharth Kannan, the actor defended the nature of the programmes he attended. "Woh jinhen chhota keh rahe hain, wo ek Chief Minister ka event hai aur doosra Member of Parliament ka. Agar aap usse chhota keh rahe hain toh main kya kahoon?" Govinda said.
Actor Mona Singh is currently in a busy phase with three releases in the past one-and-a-half months - Happy Patel: Ek Khatarnak Jasoos, Border 2 and Kohrra Season 2. Speaking about the latter, which explores gender power dynamics and patriarchy, Mona said the themes mirror realities even within the entertainment industry. She noted that in a "most masculine culture", there is often a "brotherhood romance" where women are made to feel like outsiders. The actor added that such attitudes persist everywhere, with many men still uncomfortable taking orders from women or including them in key decisions.
