Actor Imran Khan's latest flight encounter with a fan turned into an unexpected pop-culture crossover. The actor was travelling in economy class when he found himself seated next to a fan, who decided to introduce him to one of her favourite shows instead of simply asking for a picture.
In a video shared on Instagram, Imran is seen watching The Vampire Diaries during the flight. According to the fan, she convinced the actor to give the popular supernatural series a chance by comparing it to his own 2011 film Mere Brother Ki Dulhan.
"Made Imran Khan watch The Vampire Diaries, told him it's basically Mere Brother Ki Dulhan," she wrote over the video.
The clip also showed the two chatting about the show, with Imran appearing to be engrossed in the series. The fangirl added the Mere Brother Ki Dulhan title track to the video, making the unexpected comparison even more amusing.
The fan later joked about Imran's possible preference in the show's famous Salvatore brothers debate. "I am sure he's team Stefan? Idk? Forgot to ask," she wrote, while describing their conversation as a fun interaction.
The video quickly drew attention, with fans amused by the sight of the actor watching the teen supernatural drama. Comments ranged from disbelief that the crossover had happened to praise for Imran's seemingly casual interaction with the fan. One user said that "How is this man becoming cooler day by day", while another called the moment "iconic".
Released in 2011, Mere Brother Ki Dulhan marked Ali Abbas Zafar's directorial debut and featured Imran Khan, Katrina Kaif and Ali Zafar. The romantic comedy follows Kush Agnihotri, played by Imran, who sets out to find a bride for his elder brother Luv. He eventually chooses the free-spirited Dimple, played by Katrina, but things take an unexpected turn when Kush falls for her himself.
Meanwhile, The Vampire Diaries premiered in 2009 and ran for eight seasons before concluding in 2017. Based on L J Smith's book series, the show follows Elena Gilbert and her complicated relationships with vampire brothers Stefan and Damon Salvatore.
While the two stories belong to completely different genres, the fan's playful comparison clearly gave Imran's in-flight viewing session an entertaining twist. Imran Khan will make his long-awaited acting comeback in Adhure Hum Adhure Tum.
