Rambha Ho girl Kalpana Iyer opens up on being ghosted, asks industry for decency and respect

Veteran actor and dancer Kalpana Iyer, fondly remembered as the original Rambha Ho girl, is overwhelmed with gratitude after her iconic song was revived in Aditya Dhar's film Dhurandhar. After sharing that she is open to age-appropriate acting opportunities, Iyer has now opened up about being ghosted and said she expects to be treated with decency and respect.

"I have been trying hard to be decent about everything and not get upset about things over which I have no control, but it's not fair to me, to be honest, because…I want to do everything that comes my way, and I don't want to be treated like some DIVA, but I expect decency and respect. That is not asking for too much," she wrote on her Instagram.

Kalpana further acknowledged that the industry had changed and that people had their own choices and agendas. "I may not be the person they want to support, but I'm human, and I'm not asking for any sympathy or special treatment. I want work fair and square, and if you contact me, I am grateful, but if it is not happening, tell me, inform me, ask me, and I will try to understand, and maybe I will try to make changes and offer alternatives. You never know…It will work for you and me. Please don't presume or assume; just ask me, and I'll be happy and thankful," she explained.

Clarifying that her post was not aimed at any particular person, Kalpana concluded, "It is about a 70-year-old saying BE FAIR and DECENT, and I think I can expect this from you."

Kalpana Iyer entered the entertainment industry as a model and gained recognition after winning a beauty pageant. She went on to become a familiar face in Hindi cinema during the late 1970s and 1980s, earning popularity for her performances as a dancer and character artiste.

After gaining recognition from Rambha Ho recently, she is eager to return to acting. She says she is open to acting, dancing, and any opportunity that comes her way. "I am open to work, be it movies in Hindi or any other language, television, OTT, stage shows, advertising, and reality shows. My only request is that the role should be age-appropriate. I will accept it, and do it without hesitation and with complete sincerity," she had told mid-day.
