Kiara Advani embraced motherhood after welcoming daughter Saraayah in November 2025. She recently opened up about how marriage and motherhood completely transformed her life. From learning how to manage a home with husband Sidharth Malhotra's help to navigating the emotional chaos and pressure that comes after childbirth, the actress shared candid insights into her journey.
In a conversation with Bombay Times, Kiara shared how her life changed after marriage. She said, "I lived with my parents until I got married, so life changed overnight. Running a home was a completely new responsibility for me. There was no longer a âMumma, please make this.' Fortunately, Sid had been living independently for years. I always joke that I was lucky to have him because he taught me so many things about managing a home and living independently. That was an interesting transition for me. Now, as a mother, it's a whole new ball game. I'm still learning."
However, motherhood has been an even bigger transition. "I don't think people prepare you for the chaos that comes with motherhood. I am now seven-and-a-half months postpartum and can probably joke about some things with my friends who already have children, saying, âYou didn't prepare me for this' or âYou didn't prepare me for that.' But I think it is such an individual journey. No one talks about the chaos or the guilt you feel."
Kiara also addressed the pressure women face regarding their bodies after childbirth. She said, "When you are pregnant, everyone says, âOh my God, you're glowing' and all of that. The moment you deliver the baby, people start saying, âYou still look a little overweight,' or point out various changes. That's how people talk."
She added, "You are treated like a goddess when you're pregnant, but the minute the baby arrives, you're expected to be back in shape and back on track. But the hardest part for a woman comes after childbirth. That is when you need to nurture and support a woman who is adapting to an entirely new role in her life."
Sidharth and Kiara fell in love on the sets of their movie Shershaah in 2021. They tied the knot in February 2023 in a grand yet intimate ceremony in Rajasthan after dating for a few years. They welcomed their firstborn, a baby girl, in June 2025.
On the work front, Kiara has been associated with the much-anticipated film Toxic, whose release was earlier slated for June 5 but has now been pushed to a later, unannounced date.
