Kubbra Sait took a satirical dig at the notice directing actor Imran Khan to leave India following his participation in a Mumbai protest. In a video shared on Instagram, the actor asked why those raising concerns about electoral rolls were facing action, while making pointed remarks about the controversy surrounding the actor.
Highlighting the historical significance of the location, she said, "Guys, what is actually happening? I woke up this morning, and Imran Khan has been asked to leave India because he was attending a protest. It was at August Kranti Maidan, the place associated with the Quit India Movement."
She then asked about the action against protesters who had raised concerns about the Election Commission's new voters' list. She said, "You know who is shaking right now? Shakespeare. Everybody else is also shaking because young people are questioning the Election Commission over the new voters' list. A thousand people have been detained. Why? Because they asked questions."
Khan, who reportedly holds a US passport and an Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) card, was detained with his partner, actor Lekha Washington, at the October 10 protest. Sait quipped about the development, saying, "He is an American citizen. Wow, what a plot twist."
She also used the viral popular meme (Toh kya karoon mai marr jaaun) to highlight the ongoing controversy. "I think the 2026 version should be: âSo what should I do? Should I get arrested?'" she said.
Recalling a reported interaction in which a protester asked the police to arrest them but was instead told to cooperate, Sait joked, "Please tell me, is this an arrest or some sort of situation shift? Men I have dated have given me more clarity."
She concluded her video with a sharp observation about democracy, stating that queries about elections should be handled with discussion and answers. "Democracy is not without questions. Otherwise, it is only one expensive group chat where only admins can speak to each other," she said.
On October 15, the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) sent a notice to Khan, asking the Bollywood actor to leave India by October 28, citing alleged violations of the Immigration and Foreigners Act, 2025. The action came after a BJP leader, Kirit Somaiya, filed a complaint alleging that Khan had violated the conditions of his OCI status by participating in the protest.
