For veteran actor Micky Singh, A Mosquito in the Ear is a "turning point" in her career. "It's my first primary role in an international feature film. So, it has given me a lot of confidence," said the actor of the drama that is led by Jake Lacy of The White Lotus fame and Homeland actor Nazanin Boniadi.
Directed by Nicola Rinciari, A Mosquito in the Ear tells the story of an American couple that travels to India to take their newly adopted daughter home and slowly learns that building a family takes patience. Singh plays a Goa-based nun, Sister Aruna. Asked what drew her to the movie, she said, "I am an avid reader. Knowing that this film was a book adaptation was appealing to me. For my preparation for the role, I channelled some of the mannerisms of the nuns who were at Loreto Convent, Lucknow, where I was a student. I was a boarder, and we had some amazing nuns. Then Nico gave me a strong vision for the fundamental personality of Sister Aruna, which I followed to the best of my ability."
Working with a global cast and crew has reaffirmed Singh's faith in her craft. She shared, "The way I approach a role is the same, whether it is a domestic or an international project. I get into the head of the character, while staying within the confines of the script and following my director's vision."
