Bollywood actress Nushrratt Bharuccha found herself at the centre of a social media controversy after a video she shared while celebrating Royal Challengers Bengaluru's IPL 2026 victory sparked online speculation. Addressing the backlash, the actress clarified that the crying sounds heard in the clip were from a young puppy at her friend's house and also dismissed a viral clarification attributed to her as fake.
Nushrratt Bharuccha uploaded an Instagram Story celebrating RCB's win in IPL 2026; however, the video raised eyebrows after many assumed they heard moaning sounds in the background. Issuing a clarification, she shared a video on her Instagram Story and stated, "Kuch logon ne hadh hi kar di hai. Ek puppy ke rone ki awaaz se itna bawaal mach gaya hai and someone has issued a fake clarification also on my behalf. So here's the reality. I was watching the match at my friend's house and their young puppy was making these crying 'sounds.' This is the video made by my friend at the same time with the same sounds from another angle."
She continued, "This is the house where I was watching the match. This is the puppy. This is a video from that very night, a while later. Fearing exactly what has happened, I was advised to delete that video, and I did. People, calm your wild thoughts down! Owning a mobile phone doesn't empower harassment. Do not misinterpret or follow blindly. Think and act responsibly!"
She also shared a screenshot of the fake clarification doing the rounds in her name and mentioned that it was absolutely fake.
After the chatter around the sound in her Story began, Nushrratt deleted it; however, netizens saved it and started sharing it. Many believed there were moaning sounds, while others defended the actress, saying they could be dog sounds. The video was shared on X (formerly Twitter) as well as on Reddit, where netizens had polarised opinions about it. One user wrote, "Somebody's moaning in the background, most likely not Nushrratt."
On the work front, Nushrratt Bharuccha was last seen in Vishal Furia's directorial Chhorii 2. She starred alongside an ensemble cast that included Soha Ali Khan, Saurabh Goyal, Gashmeer Mahajani, Pallavi Ajay, Kuldeep Sareen, and Hardika Sharma.
