The trailer of Om Ka Hari introduces a father-son relationship that is equal parts affection, frustration and unfinished business. Directed by Harish Vyas, the family dramedy stars Raghubir Yadav as Hari Prasad and Anshuman Jha as his son Om, with Soni Razdan and Ayesha Kapur in key roles. The film is set to release in theatres on September 18.
The story kicks off after Hari experiences a medical incident and becomes convinced that he has little time left. Rather than spending his supposed final days at home, he decides to head to Varanasi. His reluctant travel companion? His son Om, with whom he shares a relationship fuelled by years of arguments, disagreements and, beneath it all, love.
What follows is less a straightforward father-son road trip and more an emotional reckoning. As the duo makes its way to Varanasi, their generational differences and opposing views on life provide plenty of room for humour. But beneath the banter lies a more serious question about mortality and what happens when the possibility of losing someone forces you to confront everything left unsaid.
The Om Ka Hari trailer cleverly shifts the focus from the question of what happens after death to something more immediate, what do we do with the life we still have? Hari may believe he is travelling to Varanasi to prepare for his death, but the journey appears to push both father and son towards examining their lives and their relationship.
Yadav describes Hari as stubborn, opinionated and difficult, but also as a father who loves deeply without necessarily knowing how to express it. Jha's Om, meanwhile, is equally complicated. He loves his father but struggles to accept his ways, creating the kind of friction that many families may find instantly familiar.
The film doesn't appear interested in presenting a picture-perfect family. Instead, it embraces the arguments, expectations, resentment, humour and affection that can coexist under one roof. That approach gives Om Ka Hari its dramedy appeal while keeping its emotional core grounded.
The soundtrack also adds another layer to the film's generational and spiritual themes, featuring voices including Asha Bhosle, Amit Kumar, Paresh Pahuja and Raghubir Yadav. Asha Bhosle's final playback song is expected to lend an especially poignant touch to the story.
For Vyas, the film explores the difficulty of expressing love between fathers and sons. And with Jha and Vyas collaborating for the third time, Om Ka Hari looks to turn a familiar family equation into an emotional journey through Varanasi. Om Ka Hari releases theatrically on September 18, 2026.
