While Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas' marriage initially raised eyebrows, the singer has often shown respect for her Indian roots, whether by visiting India or celebrating its festivals and traditions. Priyanka has now opened up about Nick's understanding of her culture, revealing why his respect for her roots is important to their relationship.
Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra first sparked rumours of a romance back at the 2017 Met Gala, where they walked the red carpet together. In July 2018, Nick proposed to Priyanka after two months of dating. In fact, the "Jealous" singer shut down the Tiffany & Co. store in London to check out diamond engagement rings just weeks before. They tied the knot in two ceremonies in India.
Priyanka and Nick have often spoken about accepting and respecting each other's cultures. When asked about Nick's respect for her Indian culture and traditions, Priyanka said to E! News, "I don't know if I'd love him if he didn't. That is a big part of any story or any relationship that is multicultural. I think it's really important to have a sense of respect for your partner's roots."
The actor also praised Nick for helping to maintain the spark in their romance. She said, "Being kind to your partner. That's something that's really important."
Nick is often seen accompanying Priyanka during her visits to India. He is also seen gorging on Indian delicacies and celebrating festivals. During her upcoming appearance on The Great Indian Kapil Show, PeeCee revealed how Nick once took her above the clouds in his plane so she could see the moon and break her Karva Chauth fast.
Describing Nick as a deeply romantic person, she shared, "Apne plane mein clouds ke upar leke gaye aur chaand dekh ke vrat toda."
Priyanka has SS Rajamouli's Varanasi, alongside Mahesh Babu and Prithviraj Sukumaran, in the pipeline. Varanasi is set to release during Sankranti 2027. She recently shared a heartfelt birthday wish for co-star Mahesh Babu. The actress was recently in India to shoot for the film. She also has the second season of the web series Citadel and a sci-fi action thriller titled Bluefly.
