Rakesh Bedi
Veteran actor Rakesh Bedi has become the internet's latest favourite after his portrayal of Jameel Jamali in the Dhurandhar franchise. His dialogue, "Bachcha hai tu mera," is now a viral meme. Reportedly, Rakesh Bedi was initially offered Rs 50 lakh for his role in both Dhurandhar films. Recently, it was reported that Aditya Dhar and the producers gave him a bonus of Rs 1 crore.
As per a report by Bollywood Hungama, "As Jameel Jamali, Rakesh Bedi impressed, entertained, and completely won over the audience. His dialogues have become immortal in the meme world, while the twist surrounding his character in the sequel further amplified his impact. The producers were deeply touched by the hard work he put into making the character so memorable. As a token of gratitude, they decided to pay him additional remuneration."
The source further revealed, "Rakesh Bedi was paid Rs 50 lakh for Dhurandhar and Dhurandhar: The Revenge. After the release of the second part and its historic success, Aditya Dhar, who directed the films and is also one of the producers, along with his brother and partner Lokesh Dhar, handed him a cheque of Rs 1 crore. In short, it was double the fee he had charged for the franchise."
However, soon after the news spread, Bedi's team dismissed the reports. On Friday afternoon, the actor's manager dismissed all such rumours and called it âfake news'. "It is fake news. We will release a video soon," Bedi's manager said while speaking to SCREEN.
In a recent interview, Rakesh reacted to the love his character is getting from fans. "Every person I encounter, or who asks for a photo, says, âSir, please say it for me.' Even if the person doesn't resemble my child, or if they have no hair, I still find myself saying, âBachcha hai tu mera'," he shared.
For those unversed, Rakesh has been a part of the entertainment industry for over four decades, from classics like Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi to Shrimaan Shrimati, and films like Gharwali Baharwali, Chashme Baddoor, Ram Teri Ganga Maili, Phir Hera Pheri, and many others.
Dhurandhar and Dhurandhar: The Revenge have been directed by Aditya Dhar. The latest, Dhurandhar 2, features Ranveer Singh, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, R Madhavan, Danish Pandor, Sara Arjun, Gaurav Gera, Mustafa Ahmed, Manav Gohil, and Bimal Oberoi, among others.
