Kriti Sanon is clearly not done having the last word in the Raksha Bandhan outfit debate, but this time, she is doing it with a healthy dose of humour. Days after her jewellery brand advertisement sparked a social media conversation over what she wore for the festival, the actor shared a sweet Raksha Bandhan post with sister Nupur Sanon and cheekily referenced the controversy.

The actor posted a close-up picture of the sisters' hands as they tied rakhis to each other, celebrating their sibling bond in their own way. But it was Kriti's caption that caught everyone's attention.

"While the Rakhi fashion committee is still in session. We're focusing on what really matters. Happy Rakhi to all," she wrote.

The "Rakhi fashion committee" quip appears to be Kriti's playful nod to the ongoing discussion around her controversial GIVA advertisement and the criticism over her Indo-Western festive look.

Kriti recently found herself at the centre of a debate after social media users objected to her bralette-style blouse, cape and draped skirt in a Raksha Bandhan campaign. The ad eventually drew enough backlash for the jewellery brand to pull it down, saying it never intended to hurt anyone's sentiments.

Kriti, however, defended her choice of clothing and questioned why a woman's respect for culture should be measured by what she wears. "The essence of festivals is not in the clothes you wear; it is in the emotions and meaning you attach to the traditions," she had written.

Kriti appears to be poking fun at the unsolicited commentary surrounding her festive outfit without directly reopening the debate. Instead, she has shifted the focus back to what she believes Raksha Bandhan should be about, love, family and the relationships being celebrated.

A sweet moment with her sister Nupur

Away from the controversy, the post was ultimately a heartwarming glimpse of Kriti and Nupur's bond. The sisters tied rakhis to each other, reflecting Kriti's earlier point that the festival's promise of protection and care does not have to be restricted to a traditional brother-sister dynamic.

Kriti had previously shared that she and Nupur tie rakhi to each other because they know they can protect one another just as much as a brother would. Nupur has also backed Kriti amid the ongoing ad controversy.

This time, she let the picture, and the sibling moment, do most of the talking. And with one witty caption, Kriti managed to acknowledge the noise, laugh at it and move on.
