Myieshaa Mukerji remembers Krishna Mukerji (Pic/Instagram)
Rani Mukerji's niece, Myieshaa Mukerji, is mourning the loss of her grandmother, Krishna Mukerji. Myieshaa has shared glimpses of heartfelt family moments, including pictures with Rani, and remembered her grandmother through an emotional note. She reflected on the many qualities she inherited from her.
Reflecting on their bond, Myieshaa wrote about the many ways she sees her grandmother's presence in her own life.
"Dadi, it's only now that I'm beginning to realise just how much of you lives in me. I hear you in the way I sing. Music was such a huge part of your life, and somehow, that love found its way into mine too. I think that's one of the most precious gifts you've given me - something of yours that I get to carry with me."
She continued, "I hear you in my laugh too. That big, loud laugh that you could never really hide, and apparently, neither can I. I see you in the way I tell stories - the animated expressions, the unnecessary details and little tangents that somehow become the best part. I see you in the way I care for the people I love, especially when I'm cooking. You were always happiest feeding all of us, and I think I've inherited that same joy."
She concluded, "I think that's what I'll hold onto most - all the little pieces of you that are now a part of me. I hope I can honour every one of them and make you proud in the years to come. Until we meet again, Dadi. Love you."
Bollywood actress Rani Mukerji's mother, Krishna Mukerji, passed away at the age of 75 on September 22. Yash Raj Films confirmed the news through a statement. The family has asked for privacy as they mourn their loss.
Krishna Mukerji was a constant presence in her daughter Rani Mukerji's life and had accompanied the actress on various occasions over the years. The mother-daughter duo shared a close relationship, which Rani had spoken about publicly on multiple occasions. Krishna had also been associated with Bengali cinema and had worked as a playback singer during her career.
She was married to filmmaker Ram Mukherjee, who passed away in 2017 and was one of the co-founders of Filmalaya Studios.
