Salman Khan has reiterated his stance against paparazzi taking photos of actresses from behind without their consent, warning he will take action against photographers and platforms that continue the practice. The actor addressed the issue during a recent episode of Bigg Boss 20, where guest Neha Dhupia thanked him for speaking out about a concern that has drawn criticism from women in the entertainment industry.
Salman acknowledged that the problem had persisted despite his earlier comments made on Bigg Boss 20, adding that some photographers appeared to be treating his warning as a joke. He also alleged that certain celebrities, including both men and women, invite paparazzi and pay them to take such pictures, while stressing that this does not justify making others uncomfortable.
"There are also some women and some guys who call them (paps) there, pay for them there, they ask them to do this. What can they do, either?" he said.
The actor clarified that while some celebrities may be comfortable with such photographs, photographers must respect the wishes of those who object to them. "Those who want it, go ahead and do it, brother. Don't touch the ones who don't want it," he added, emphasising that consent should determine whether such pictures are taken.
Addressing Neha directly, Salman said that photographers would face consequences if they continued taking these shots after actresses had explicitly asked them to stop. "When you girls come and say 'don't do this,' and they do it anyway, then we'll see what happens," he said.
The actor also suggested that the practice was becoming more frequent despite his earlier intervention. "Now they started doing even more, but I'll take a big stand on it," he said, adding that he believed some major platforms were also involved. "They think right now it is a joke. And, some big platforms are doing it. I'll take full on action," Salman stated, signalling that he intended to take a stronger stand against the practice.
Neha expressed her appreciation for Salman raising the matter on a widely watched television platform. The actor had previously spoken about photographers deliberately focusing on actresses' thighs or taking pictures from behind, regardless of whether the women were comfortable with it.
During his earlier comments on Bigg Boss 20, Salman questioned why photographers continued taking such pictures when several actresses had made their discomfort clear. He also referred to Neha's earlier objections to the practice and mentioned an incident involving Saiee Manjrekar and his niece.
At the time, he urged women who did not want such photographs taken to stand up for themselves, saying, "Wherever that happens, turn around and slap them." His latest remarks reinforce his call for paparazzi to respect personal boundaries, while his promise of action puts the spotlight back on consent and the treatment of women in celebrity photography. Salman Khan will next be seen in Monster, releasing on Eid 2027.
