Sanjay Dutt's luxury nightclub Ballr in Pune has reportedly landed in trouble. The Bombay High Court has barred the club from playing copyrighted music in public, reportedly over the lack of necessary permission from Phonographic Performance Limited (PPL) India. Following the development, Dutt has issued a clarification about his association with the club.
Sanjay Dutt took to his Instagram handle and shared a short statement on his Stories. In the note, the actor wrote, "With recent reports concerning Ballr, Pune, I would like to clarify that I am not associated with the club in any capacity." (sic)
For the unversed, mid-day reported that a PPL representative visited Ballr on June 24, when they found chartbusters - including Badtameez Dil, Mauja Hi Mauja, Dard-e-Disco, O Saki Saki, Dus Bahane, Justin Bieber's What Do You Mean, and Dua Lipa's Levitating - being played at the venue. The songs' copyrights are held by the licensing organisation. In the hearing, the court noted that Ballr had previously obtained a licence, which had expired and was not renewed.
This comes amid the release and buzz around Salman Khan and Sanjay Dutt's 7 Dogs trailer. The film brings together a diverse international cast, with Egyptian stars Karim Abdel Aziz and Ahmed Ezz leading the central narrative. It is set to release in Indian theatres on August 21 in Hindi and English. 7 Dogs is directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, the filmmakers behind Hollywood action films Bad Boys for Life and Bad Boys: Ride or Die.
Work-wise, he recently starred in the Dhurandhar franchise as SP Chaudhary Aslam, and his portrayal wooed audiences. His performance clearly struck a chord not just with the audiences but with real-life Chaudhary Aslam's wife, Naureen Aslam, as well. Naureen has praised his portrayal, admitting that in one particular scene, she felt as though she was watching her husband himself on screen.
He was also a part of Riteish Deshmukh's Raja Shivaji. Apart from this, his film Aakhri Sawal has also dropped on OTT. It revolves around Professor Gopal Nadkarni, played by Sanjay Dutt. A celebrated academic known for his unwavering principles, Gopal finds himself at the centre of a growing ideological and generational conflict after a controversial academic decision sparks a confrontation with one of his brightest students, Vicky, played by Namashi Chakraborty.
