Actor Karisma Kapoor's children, Samaira and Kiaan, have received significant relief in the ongoing legal battle over their late father Sunjay Kapur's massive estate, reportedly worth around Rs 30,000 crore. The dispute, which has been unfolding in the Delhi High Court, involves allegations of a contested will and concerns over the distribution of assets.
The court recently ordered that Sunjay Kapur's assets must be preserved until the case is resolved, ensuring that no part of the estate is sold, transferred, or misused. This interim relief is seen as a major win for the children, who had approached the court seeking protection of their inheritance rights. The court also restricted the operation of Kapur's bank accounts to prevent any financial transactions that could affect the estate.
The legal dispute primarily involves Kapur's third wife, Priya Sachdeva Kapur, who has been accused by the children of forging a will and withholding complete details of the businessman's assets. According to their claims, the submitted list allegedly excludes several high-value possessions, including luxury watches, expensive polo horses, prime properties, and valuable artworks.
Samaira and Kiaan have argued that these omissions raise serious doubts about the authenticity and transparency of the will. The court acknowledged these concerns, stating that there is a prima facie case and that failing to protect the assets at this stage could lead to injustice if the will is later found to be invalid.
Importantly, the court placed the responsibility on Priya Kapur to address and clear the "legitimate suspicions" surrounding the will. Until then, the estate will remain under judicial protection. This includes a clear directive that the assets "need to be preserved" and should not be dissipated in any manner.
The case is part of a larger and increasingly bitter family dispute that also involves Sunjay Kapur's mother, Rani Kapur, and other relatives, all of whom have raised questions about the will. The conflict has seen multiple legal proceedings and sharp exchanges between family members over the past several months.
Sunjay Kapur, who passed away in London in June 2025 at the age of 53, left behind a vast business empire and significant wealth. His sudden death triggered a complex inheritance battle, drawing public attention due to both the scale of the estate and the high-profile individuals involved.
For now, the court's order ensures that the estate remains intact while the legal process continues. The final outcome will depend on whether the contested will is proven genuine, a decision that could significantly impact how the late businessman's wealth is ultimately divided among his heirs.
