The trailer launch of Batwara 1947 turned emotional as Shabana Azmi, Sunny Deol, Karan Deol, and the film's cast came together to unveil the upcoming period drama. During the event, Shabana recalled an intense scene that left her feeling vulnerable and revealed why Sunny became like her "son." A teary-eyed Sunny also spoke about dedicating the film to mothers everywhere.

Shabana Azmi on her association with the Deol family

When asked about her collaboration with Dharmendra's family, Shabana Azmi quipped, "I would like to say that my last film was with Dharam Ji, Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, and the next film that is coming is with Sunny and Karan. And I can do one with Abhay. Now you guys tell Bobby to get ready."

She further left Sunny Deol teary-eyed as she recalled an emotionally tough scene from the film. She shared, "There is a scene in this film where, personally, as a human being, I felt very humiliated and very, very stripped of any dignity. You see a little glimpse of it in the trailer when the villain is dragging me and tears my kurta. At that moment, I don't think I have ever felt so vulnerable and so exposed as I did as a human being."

She added, "And believe me, when Sunny came and put that dupatta on me, in real life, as Shabana, he became my son. He became my protector, and I hugged him with every iota of my being. I said, 'Thank God he's there to save me.' So, if, as an actor with 50 years of experience, I can feel one particular moment so truthfully because of my co-actor, it's bound to translate on screen. So I want to say thank you to Sunny."

Sunny on working with Rajkumar Santoshi

The actor again got emotional as he recalled his association with Rajkumar Santoshi on films like Ghayal, Damini, and Ghatak. He shared that their stories are made with purity and avoid controversies. "That's the kind of cinema I love doing," he added.

Talking about the film, he assured that it would make everyone love their mother a little more. He said, "It's a story about a mother and son, and that's the beauty of it. I even shared a post dedicated to my mom and all the other mothers in the world."
