A still from Suryaa teaser
Sunny Deol is turning a personal tragedy into a fight for justice in the teaser of his upcoming film Suryaa: Ant Se Aarambh Tak. Unveiled on the actor's 69th birthday on October 19, the teaser introduces him as a grieving father and police officer determined to uncover the truth behind his daughter's death. What begins as a family tragedy soon leads him towards disturbing questions about alleged malpractice in the medical system. Scroll down to find more details.
The teaser shows Sunny Deol's character investigating the circumstances surrounding his daughter's death. As he searches for answers, he questions medical practices that he believes exploit patients and their families. One of the teaser's most pointed lines targets doctors who allegedly order unnecessary tests and charge patients excessive amounts. "Doctors don't write prescriptions there, they write their commissions," Sunny Deol's character says. The makers describe the film as being inspired by real events. However, the teaser does not establish the specific case or cases behind the story.
Directed by Malayalam filmmaker M Padmakumar, Suryaa marks his Hindi directorial debut. The film stars Ravi Kishan, Pragya Jaiswal, Jisshu Sengupta, Tinu Anand, Manish Wadhwa and Tanushree Chakraborty, among others. The project reunites Padmakumar with a story that has roots in his Malayalam film Joseph, released in 2018. Starring Joju George, the original follows a retired police officer whose investigative skills draw him into a complex criminal case. Suryaa adapts the thriller for Hindi-speaking audiences, while the teaser foregrounds the emotional toll of loss and the pursuit of accountability.
The film is produced by Deepak Mukut, Hemmant Mukut and Lokesh Mukut under the banner of MM Moviez and will release in theatres on 20 November 2026. The teaser promises a cocktail of family drama, investigation and confrontation, with Sunny Deol playing a man whose grief drives him to take on a system that he believes has failed his family. With its focus on medical accountability and a father's search for answers, Suryaa places Sunny Deol in a story where the central battle is not simply against an individual antagonist, but against a web of unanswered questions. Whether the full film can turn its provocative premise into a nuanced thriller remains to be seen.
