Actor Kiara Advani recently opened up about her upcoming film, Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups, alongside Yash. She spoke about how the film challenged her understanding of love, relationships, and emotional freedom. Kiara, who plays the character Nadia in the film, revealed that the film presents an unconventional take on romance, which left a deep impact on her.
Speaking to Bombay Times about her upcoming film, Kiara revealed that the character of Nadia made her rethink love and relationships. She shared, "With Toxic, which is coming up, I think it completely changes the way you see the man-woman dynamic. And in fact, even for me, when Geetu Mohandas narrated the script to me, it took a while for me to understand that okay, this is also normal. It may be gray, it may be not in your conventional space, but there's a certain liberation in love."
Kiara added that the moment of recognition stayed with her long after the narration ended. "That's when Nadia was narrated to me and I was like, wow. I mean, I wish I was capable of being so detached and liberated in my own thoughts and the way I, you knowâ¦," she added.
Interestingly, Yash also recently mentioned how Toxic will stand out from the usual gangster dramas that the audiences are used to, especially due to the emotional depth and perspectives its female characters bring to the story. The actor, while speaking to Variety India, shared how director Geetu Mohandas's approach to storytelling brings a far more emotionally layered approach to the darker side of human nature. The actor also emphasised that the filmmaker's understanding of human emotion adds a strikingly new dimension to the film's dark and intense world.
"A lot of men have had the opportunity to talk about the gangster world or the dark side of humans. But when somebody like Geetu, whose take on emotions is very deep, enters that space, every scene takes a different turn," Yash said.
Backed by KVN Productions and Monster Mind Creations, Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups stars Yash, Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Huma Qureshi, Rukmini Vasanth and Tara Sutaria in key roles. Toxic was earlier expected to hit theatres on March 19. However, it was later pushed citing reasons of the West Asia war. It was then announced that the film would be released on June 4, 2026.
However, it was once again postponed. A new release date for the film is yet to be announced.
