A still from Koffee With Karan season 9 promo
Salman Khan is back on Koffee With Karan for its ninth season. The creators of Koffee With Karan have confirmed that Salman will be the first guest on the show's final season, which is its ninth season. A promo that was aired put Salman and host Karan Johar back in the spotlight as the new season is all set to premiere on JioHotstar on October 14.
The promo also sets the tone for the season's opening episode. In it, Karan says, "Yeh season kahi bhi jaa sakta hai (This season could go either way)" Salman responds, "Jaa hi sakta hai. Ye to gaya hai, gaya hai (Yes, it can. It has gone, definitely gone)." Salman also promised that it will be worth the watch. The caption on the post read, "One last time a coffee with the one & only bhaii (sic)."
Salman Khan's appearance comes as Karan Johar is gearing up to bring the long-running celebrity chat show to an end. The Bollywood superstar last appeared on Koffee With Karan in Season 5 in 2016, alongside his brothers Arbaaz Khan and Sohail Khan. The 100th episode revisited his much-talked-about debut appearance in Season 4, when he claimed that he was still a virgin. When Karan Johar recalled the remark, Salman maintained that nothing has changed.
The episode also featured the star brothers sharing memories about their childhood and how they stand in solidarity when it comes to being one family.
Koffee With Karan premiered on Star World in 2004, with Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol as its first guests. The first season also featured Amitabh Bachchan with his son Abhishek Bachchan, while Aishwarya Rai appeared with filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali, and Kareena Kapoor appeared with her then co-star Rani Mukerji.
Up to 2019, the program ran for six seasons on Star World. In 2007, Star One also simulcast Season 2. By Season 6, episodes were available to stream on Hotstar, which was owned by Star India at the time, just like Star World.
