Diljit Dosanjh is currently busy with his Aura tour while also gearing up for the release of Main Vaapas Aaunga. He was recently in the news for the pro-Khalistani flag row at his Canada show. The actor-singer has reportedly decided to skip promotions for the release. According to reports, Diljit wants to avoid unnecessary controversies and media attention, choosing a quieter approach for the film instead.
A source revealed to Filmfare, "Diljit Dosanjh has taken the decision to not promote his latest release, Main Vaapas Aaunga. This is in line with his stance of not promoting Border 2 as well. It's not that he has a problem with film promotions, but he doesn't want to be exposed to the rigmarole of media queries and unnecessary controversies. He's very excited for the release of Imtiaz Ali's Main Vaapas Aaunga, but he doesn't want to adopt the run-of-the-mill approach to making noise about this movie."
It was only in April that the singer-actor sat alongside director Imtiaz Ali, composer AR Rahman, and lyricist Irshad Kamil to tease the film's music. He had stayed away from the Border 2 press circuit altogether. The war drama, which starred Sunny Deol and Suniel Shetty, was missed by the actor as he faced backlash over Sardaar Ji 3, in which Dosanjh had cast Pakistani actress Hania Aamir.
Talking about this time, the actor has been in the news for the past few days after he slammed people carrying pro-Khalistani flags at his Canada concert. Additionally, during the show, Dosanjh also responded to criticism from sections of the Punjabi community, as well as the controversy surrounding his appearance on Kaun Banega Crorepati in 2025.
Main Vaapas Aaunga is set in Imtiaz Ali's evocative world of love and longing. The film also stars Naseeruddin Shah, Sharvari Wagh, and Vedang Raina in pivotal roles. Produced by Sameer Nair and Deepak Segal of Applause Entertainment, and Mohit Choudhary and Shibasish Sarkar of Window Seat Films, the film releases in cinemas on June 12.
Diljit's song Kya Kamal Hai was unveiled from the film, and it's winning hearts. The singer said in a statement, "âKya Kamal Hai' is very close to my heart. There's a certain honesty in this song⦠it makes you pause and just feel, without trying too hard. Working with Imtiaz Ali Sir is always special because his world feels real - nothing forced, nothing superficial."
