Winners and whiners: B-Town celebs who believe they haven't got their due

Bollywood may have turned their lives around, but many Bolywood actors and directors seem to think that things have not turned out they way they wanted to even after all these years of working in industry

In a recent interview, actor Om Puri expressed his disappointment over his Bollywood career and the direction it had taken. The 63-year-old actor, whose Hollywood film, The Hundred-Foot Journey, has just released, said that despite working for nearly four decades in Bollywood, he is yet to receive a fat fee or bag a meaty role.

He is said to have observed that this is not the case in Hollywood, where roles are specially written for senior actors like him.

Interestingly, Om Puri is not the only actor who harbours a grouse against the industry. There are many celebs who have shot to fame and risen through the ranks and yet they feel that they have not got their dues. Be it his contemporaries or the younger crop of actors, directors and musicians, discontentment seems to be lurking just around the corner.

Living in the past
Take for instance, Nawazuddin Siddiqui. The actor has proved his mettle in several films and the struggling actor's career got big boost after he was seen in Anurag Kashyap's film, Gangs of Wasseypur, two years ago. Since then, he has been enjoying a good run but if his interviews are anything to go by, it's clear that Nawazuddin refuses to let go of his past.

Higher standards?
Om Puri's contemporary, Naseeruddin Shah too shares similar views on Bollywood as a whole. Time and again, he has said that he is not a commercially bankable actor. He has also said that this industry has not given him his due. In fact, last year he criticised Farhan Akhtar for his film, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, calling it a ‘fake film'.

Not sporty
Anurag Kashyap has won many honours and offered a launch pad to many deserving actors and directors, but the filmmaker is known to express his displeasure over various issues - right from his film not being nominated for the Oscars to the media writing about his personal life. On several occasions, Kashyap is said to have noted that he is not happy with the way Indian media functions.

A matter of regret
She may have starred in Humshakals, but when it came to promoting this film, Bipasha Basu decided that she didn't want to be associated with it. After shying away from all promotional events for the film, she broke her silence on twitter where she said that she was not happy, rather she was ‘extremely disturbed' by the film's end result. Incidentally, this is not the first time that the actress has walked out of a project. She was also in the news for allegedly refusing to walk the ramp with Chitrangada Singh at a recent fashion event as she allegedly felt that Singh was a relatively junior actress.

'I can't get no satisfaction'
Music composer Vishal Dadlani, who supports the Aam Aadmi Party, is very vocal on social media. Not only does he have an opinion on most topics under the sun - from photoshoots and media, to fellow singers and politics - he is also known to react vehemently to most issues.
