Yash and Roohi turn 3: Check out the most adorable photos of Karan Johar's bundles of joy

It was the happiest time for ace filmmaker-producer Karan Johar when his twins, Roohi and Yash were born. The kids were born on February 7, 2017, via surrogacy. (All pictures/Karan Johar's Instagram account)

Did you know, Karan Johar named his son after his father Yash Johar? His daughter Roohi's name is the rearranged version of his mother Hiroo's name!

The twins were born in Andheri's Masrani Hospital, which is where Shah Rukh Khan's third child, AbRam, was born via surrogacy.

Things, however, didn't go as smoothly as Karan had planned. The babies were born almost ten weeks before full term, which gave the filmmaker quite a scare. But he was determined to give his children all the warmth and care that they needed to grow and develop.

In a social media post, Karan Johar had said, "Millions of preemies are born every year... but babies are resilient. With the right kind of care, they stand just as good a chance of survival as anyone else."

Karan Johar introduced Yash and Roohi to the world through Twitter in March. He described his children as "two most wonderful additions to my life and lifelines" in an official statement.

How astonishingly cute do the twins look in this photo?!

This is what he wrote in his statement: "I am ecstatic to share with you all the two most wonderful additions to my life, my children and lifelines; Roohi and Yash. I feel enormously blessed to be a parent to these pieces of my heart who were welcomed into this world with the help of the marvels of medical science."

Karan Johar also expressed gratitude towards the surrogate who fulfilled his lifelong dream of becoming a father. "She will always remain in my prayers," he said.

Karan Johar also thanked the legal and medical teams for being his "strength and spine" during the entire process. He said, "Having a premature baby is something you don't expect to happen to you. The whole experience has ignited a passion in me to help premature babies get the best chance they can... to help those in anguish who want the best chance of survival for their early born babies."

Karan Johar is firecely protective of his babies. Once, a social media troll tried to target the filmmaker through his children by saying that he was depriving them of motherly love. Karan Johar shut the troll down by saying, "With all due respect, get a life. There are larger issues the country is combating at the moment and it can well do without your narrow-mindedness! My babies are being loved and that's all that matters and FYI they have a mother! My mother (sic)."

At 3, Yash and Roohi already have a huge fan following that includes their daddy's friends from the film and TV industry as well.

Yash and Roohi Johar are growing up to be strong, smart and beautiful young people, and theirs is the kind of bond that will weather any storm.

The twins are great friends with SRK's baby AbRam Khan and Kareena's Taimur, and are frequently seen on playdates with them.

This photo is from the time when 'Sid uncle' gifted the twins a toy car. Siddharth Malhotra shared on social media, "Cutest ride in town. With my Yash and Roohi (sic)"

Here's wishing Yash and Roohi Johar a wonderful 3rd birthday!
